Facility Use Policy TU-Boathouse

  • TU Berlin’s House Regulations apply at the boathouse.
  • To participate in TU Berlin water sports, you must be able to swim. Additionally, you must have confirmation of a booked course (if applicable), a permit for the sport in question (sailing, paddling, rowing - earned after completion of a safety or introductory course), or sport boats license for inland sailing.
  • You must have your booking confirmation or permit with you upon entering the TU boathouse and be able to present these together with a photo ID if requested by boathouse staff.
  • Environmental protection regulations are to be strictly observed at all times (see the DSV’s 10 golden rules of water protection).
  • The regulations for inland waterways must be observed.
  • Handle boathouse equipment with care. Use equipment only for its intended purpose.
  • Before renting any materials, you must read the information provided about free loans.
  • Smoking is only permitted in designated areas and is prohibited on boats and boards.
  • Bicycles are to be parked at the designated bike racks. Vehicles are not permitted on TU boathouse grounds.
  • Visitors are required to maintain cleanliness and dispose of all waste in the designated trash cans. Open fire is only permitted upon request. Fire authority regulations are to be observed.
  • Animals of any kind are not permitted on the TU boathouse grounds.
  • Swimming and sunbathing on and around the dock are only permitted if they do not disrupt water sport.
  • Usage times are to be observed. If you return borrowed materials after the designated time, you will be charged the extra costs incurred by boathouse personnel.
  • All lockers in the changing rooms are to be emptied at the end of each course/day. A 1-euro coin is required to operate the lockers. Lockers are to be kept in clean condition.
  • In the event of dangerous weather conditions or other eventualities, boathouse personnel may restrict use of the boathouse or discontinue water sports entirely.
  • Sports equipment may only be loaned by course instructors or boathouse personnel.
  • Each patron must complete and sign the record book when borrowing equipment. You must record the time and any damages when returning the items. Damages are to be immediately reported to boathouse personnel. All equipment is to be cleaned and returned to its designated storage location.
  • University Sports is not liable for theft or damage to personal belongings.
